Tampa Bay acquires Chad Burt and Josh Lambo

Josh Lambo comes to Tampa on loan from FC Dallas.

From the Tampa Bay Rowdies front office:

TAMPA, Fla. (March 17, 2010) – FC Tampa Bay Rowdies (FC Tampa Bay) announce the signing of American midfielder Chad Burt and acquisition of goalkeeper Josh Lambo on loan from FC Dallas of Major League Soccer (MLS).

Chad Burt, a St. Petersburg, Fla. native, was brought on by FC Tampa Bay as a trialist in the beginning of March for training camp.  During his trial he played in the preseason games against University of Tampa, where he had an assist, and FC Dallas of MLS, where he scored one goal in the 2-2 draw.

Burt is currently assistant director of coaching for Strictly Soccer Futbol Club (SSFC), a FYSA Region C Club in St. Petersburg, Fla., where he also began his soccer career.  Burt previously played for Carolina Railhawks, members of the North American Soccer League (NASL) who compete in USSF Division 2 (USSF D-2), during the 2009 season and the Milwaukee Wave in Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) for the 2008-2009 season. While with the Wave, Burt played in 20 games and scored a total of 13 points.  He also played for the Colorado Rapids U-23 team in 2007 and then for the Atlanta Silverbacks in 2008.

“We have added another excellent player to our roster with the signing of Burt,” said Paul Dalglish, head coach of FC Tampa Bay. “His hard work and commitment during his trial period convinced us that he was the perfect fit for our team.  He grew up in Tampa Bay, loves the game and understands the history behind the team and what we are looking to build with it.”
Josh Lambo, an American goalkeeper who is on loan from FC Dallas, began his soccer career in 2005 at the U.S. U-17 Residency Program in Bradenton, Fla. Lambo also represented the U.S. in the 2007 FIFA U-17 World Cup and as a U-20 National Team member in the 2009 CONCACAF Qualifiers, 2008 Copa Chivas and 2008 Milk Cup.  Lambo was most recently drafted by FC Dallas in the first round of the 2008 MLS SuperDraft as the 8th pick overall.

“Josh’s accomplishments at such a young age speak to his skill and work ethic,” said Andrew Nestor, team owner and president. “We got a chance to see Josh in action at our combine in Liverpool last December and were impressed with his great attitude and his play on the field. We’re thrilled to have Josh join our club.”

FC Tampa Bay plays the third of five preseason games on Friday, March 19, at 7:30 p.m. against Philadelphia Union of MLS at University of Tampa. The first regular season game for FC Tampa Bay will be on April 16 against Crystal Palace Baltimore at the UMBC Stadium in Baltimore and the first home game is May 8 at 7:30 p.m. against the Austin Aztex at George M. Steinbrenner Field.

  1. Very interesting. I was wondering if there were going to be any loan arrangements between MLS and NASL clubs. Glad to see that happening.
