Americans Abroad: Hahnemann Keeps Clean Sheet for Wolves

Marcus Hahnemann

American goalkeeper Marcus Hahnemann is making a strong bid for a spot as a backup on the U.S. Men’s National Team that’s headed to South Africa for the World Cup in June.  The former Reading keeper has two shutouts in his last three games for lowly Wolverhampton in the English Premier League  — between those two shutouts he only allowed one goal against Arsenal.

Closer to home, St. Louisan and Hoffenheim striker Vedad Ibisevic played the entire 90 for Hoffenheim in their 2-0 loss to FC Cologne.  Sheffield Wednesday defender and area native Frank Simek can’t get seem to get any minutes for the Owls under manager Alan Irvine.  And also on Saturday, in MLS play, St. Louisan Pat Noonan scored for the Seattle Sounders in their 2-2 draw with Real Salt Lake.
