AC St. Louis Visits Des Moines Menace in US Open Cup June 15

Today the USSF announced its pairing for the 16 games in the first round of the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup.  AC St. Louis will travel to West Des Moines, Iowa to play the Des Moines Menace of the Premier Development League at 7:30 pm CDT on Tuesday June 15.  Other teams playing in this round include other USSF D2  clubs, USL-2 clubs, PDL  and USASA clubs that have through elimination rounds played earlier.  The winners of each game will play again on June 22.  The winner of the AC St. Louis-Des Moines Menace match will play the winner of the Kansas City Athletics (USASA)-NSC Minnesota Stars match.

I’m disappointed that AC St. Louis wasn’t awarded a home game in this round.  The Des Moines Menace play in the same PDL Heartland Division as our local St. Louis Lions.   Des Moines defeated the Lions, 2-1, about ten days ago at Valley Stadium in West Des Moines before a crowd of over 3400, so one can fairly say that they deserve to be awarded a home game, too.  GO AC !!!!

Soccer has announced the draw for the first two rounds of the 2010
Lamar Hunt US Open Cup.

The First Round matches will all be played on June 15. The 32 teams
that make up the first round were divided geographically and the
match-ups were determined by a blind draw.

The Second Round of the 95-year-old Tournament will pit the winners
from the 16 First Round matches with the result that the 8 Seco0nd
Round winners will meet the 8 Major League Soccer teams in the Third
Round.
